In the end after a bit of messing around I decided to go with simple press, at least for the time being. I've created some initial forums and will add more if we need/want them ( or delete or merge ). You'll need to register if you want to be able to create new topics or post. You can find the forum link in the top area of the right hand side of the screen, under the pages heading and to register you'll find the link towards the bottom of the right hand column under the meta heading.

Have at it.

In preparation for adding a forum to the site, i decided to go with simple:press as it integrated with wordpress quite nicely and seems simple enough to setup and use (famous last words) i've enabled user registration. When you register you'll receive an email from this site using an @gmail.com account so if your email server blocks gmail or sends it directly to spam you might have a problem and will want to contact me to setup your account manually.

I will be busy for the next few days so I might not actually get around to adding the forums until the weekend but I hope to be able to get to it sooner.

I've decided that I will add a forum to the site, John K. has nagged me about this for far too long. It feels almost as if i'm married to him the amount of nagging he does. But i'm not too sure what forum software to use other than no way no how will I use Mingle. I'm leaning towards using Simple:Press or phpBB. Simple:Press because it integrates quite well with wordpress and phpBB as well it seems to be the most popular but at the moment it's a toss up. Does anyone have any preference or even any expertise in those two forum applications or in fact a better suggestion?

After much nagging by John K. (and the fact my web hoster moved me from a shared VM to a VM where I am the sole user) I have finally started to fix the camputerslynx.info website after some data loss about 18 months ago. I did have backups of the data but things were not all in the same place so finding stuff meant I had to search several harddisks and tarballs.

The files I put up a few months ago are accessible by clicking the files link on the right hand column, i'll add more files as and when I get to it.

If you want to help with getting the website working or have anything you want to donate, software, documents... drop me a line.
